The Planetarium: Ep. 27 -- Astronauts Pt. 2
Stepping back again today from solar bodies to showcase more astronaut pictures. Because without them, we won't be going anywhere.
“HERE MEN FROM THE PLANET EARTH
FIRST SET FOOT UPON THE MOON
JULY 1969, A.D.
WE CAME IN PEACE FOR ALL MANKIND”-- The words on a plaque left on the Moon by Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong.
That's it for today! If you ever wondered about the minutia of space travel and all its weird, yet mundane details (how *does* one test a toilet before it goes into space?), I highly recommend the book Packing for Mars by Mary Roach.
Here's my first feature on astronauts, for those interested:

The Planetarium: Ep. 26 -- Jupiter
There is very little that could surpass the natural beauty of Jupiter's swirling clouds. The images coming back from the Juno spacecraft last year were, quite simply, stunning. To capture that in art is a task undertaken by the brave souls of this week's feature, and they did not disappoint!
That's it for this week! Thank you for coming along with me on this month-long journey through the solar system. We only managed to visit three of our neighboring planets in December; which would you like to cover in the new year? Comment below!

In a departure from featuring just one artist per day, I've decided to showcase as many people as possible for the final day of Christmas. I'm not sure exactly how it happened, but December has been the month of jellyfish -- my feed has been absolutely flooded with the little guys. Many of them are

On the eleventh day of features, DA gave to me . . .

GuilleBot (https://www.deviantart.com/guillebot) has got to be one of my favorite artists on dA. His visions of alien planets -- both real and imagined -- are always such a delight. Believe it or not, this is just a very small taste from his gallery. Do yourself a huge favor and go check out the rest!
Hope you enjoy, and Happy Imminent Holid
